About Your Character:[/b]
Beliefs: Unlike his sister, Slateclaw thinks that StarClan is to blame for not telling the clans of the coming storm. He also believes that StarClan should have protected his mother and also his father. Slateclaw's faith in StarClan has been irrevocably damaged do to the way things have happened in his life.
Mentor/Apprentice: he does not yet have an apprentice.
Kin: Emberflight (his sister), Redwing (his father)(dead), Willowtail (his mother)(dead)
Mate: none currently
Appearance: Slateclaw is a sleek nearly black colored cat with black tabby stripes running through his fur though they are hardly detectable thanks to his base coloring. Hisfront paws are white as is the snip of fur just between his eyes, his back paws are the same dark gray of his pelt. Like his sister, Slateclaw is a tall cat with a long tail, though he doesn't have the same lankiness to him that she does. Slateclaw is much more muscular than his sister which is the one visible trait that he inherited from his father. His eyes are green but tinted lightly with gray. While he was fleeing with his mother and sister from the storm his tail was caught under a falling tree and is now somewhat crooked instead of strait because it was broken. Slateclaw has relatively sharp claws though they aren't the sharpest. Another sharp attribute that sets him apart from other cats is the color of his nose which is more of a reddish color than pink.
Personality: Unlike his sister Emberflight Slateclaw has always been a very open cat, never holding back his feelings. He understands his sister's fear of talking to other cats and supports her in every way that he is able. He's trusting of the cats in his own clan. His relationships with the cats in his clan can only grow stronger the longer that he is around them. Of the two kits that were born to Willowtail, Slatekit was always the noisy one speaking for both kits when he mewled. When the tom was younger he helped his sister gain the courage to start talking to other cats teaching her that there was no reason for her fear. His power to convince has always been one of Slateclaw's strongest attributes. He treats all of his closest friends with the same care and kindness that he would show to a mate, and is currently looking ahead to his future. Though he is young he hopes to someday become Senior Warrior, and he is anxious for the day that he gets his first apprentice so that he can pass on the skills that he himself has been taught over his life.
History: Slateclaw is the only son that Willowtail and Redwing ever had, he was born into JayClan as the son of two of its warriors. His allegiance has never been given to any other clan and never will be. He was the loud talkative one of the two kits and almost never shut his mouth. He has quieted down with age. Slatekit didn't really have 'a' cat that he looked up to unless every apprentice and warrior in JayClan count as one, but he didn't have anyone specifically. Slatekit was always Willowtail's favorite of her children and she made the fact well known often starting fights with her own daughter after her mate's death. Slatekit like any kit loved his mother and his litter mates.
As an apprentice Slatepaw was always ready to learn anything. He was usually the cat that started most of the adventures that the apprentices got punished for so he knows plenty of the elders quite well. Slatepaw has always had the same muscular quality to him as his father did. This helped him when he was an apprentice as he excelled in battle training though he has never been very good at hunting his paws always seemed to make a little too much noise. His apprentice ship was normal and slow paced but he became a warrior at the same time that Emberflight did because the clan leader thought that both of the cats were ready for the challenge.
Slateclaw and Emberflight had barely become warriors when the tornado hit the home that they had been born into. Slateclaw was the cat who first came up with the idea that Emberflight talk to the leader about what she wanted her warrior name to be and Slateclaw accompanied her when she went to talk to the leader begging on his sister's behalf. In his short time as a warrior nothing really good has happened to him. The first thing that went wrong was the storm, in it he lost his mother who was the only cat that had ever supported him and encouraged him to do anything while Emberflight merely relies on him for everything. He also lost the use of half of his tail and now has problems balancing when he is running and climbing.
Role play Example:
(For all intents and purposes, Yewstar another of my fan-fiction cats will be used for this example along with Emberflight and Slateclaw)
The shapes of two cats one with a dark brown and ginger pelt and the other blue gray sat side by side in their leader's den. The tail of the dark gray cat touched that of the tortoise shell cat lightly as if trying to console the other cat. Emberpaw looked over at her brother and nodded lightly before she turned to Yewstar and began speaking to the older cat.
"Yewstar," she began and then paused because she wasn't sure what to say from there. She turned her eyes on her brother Slatepaw searching his eyes for any help at all. Slatepaw swiped his tail over his sister's pelt lightly and then looked at Yewstar himself.
"Yewstar, Emberpaw wants to talk to you about something," he said quietly looking at the large tom a twinge of nervousness clear in his voice.
"What is it Emberpaw?" Yewstar asked looking at the two apprentices calmly, he knew their situation and felt half sorry for the siblings. Emberpaw transfered her weight from one paw to the other nervously.
"I wanted to ask you if it would be possible to request my own warrior name," the small she cat said not looking at Yewstar but choosing instead to cast her vision to the ground of the den.
"What do you want your name to be Emberpaw?" Yewstar asked his curiosity peaked slightly.
"I want my name to be Emberflight," she said lightly and then looked over at Slatepaw. Her brother nodded softly knowing that Emberpaw didn't want to talk anymore.
"She wants that to be her name so she can honor our father," Slatepaw continued for his sister looking Yewstar right in the tom's passive eyes with a pleading look showing in his own.
"Ah, I see," Yewstar said calmly flicking his tail just lightly, "I remember Redwing," the tom said quietly, "he would be proud of the fine cats that you have both grown to be," he said standing
and taking several steps toward the two apprentices. He touched his nose to the top of Emberpaw's head very lightly trying to calm the she cat's nerves.
"So you'll consider my wish?" she asked lightly looking up at him as her leader stepped away. Yewstar nodded calmly attempting to assure the cats that he would without speaking.
"I am making no promises but I will think about it," he said after several heartbeats of silence. He nodded his head at the apprentices dismissing them from his den. The two cats bowed there heads
slowly at the same time and then turned together and walked out of the den their tails lightly entwined with each others.
Once alone outside the den Slatepaw looked over at his sister and attempted just a light smile. "That went well," he assured her as he saw the nervous look in her eyes.
"Really Slatepaw do you think that he'll really consider it or do you think that he'll just dismiss it completely?" Emberpaw asked looking at her brother and then looking at the ground.
"When have you ever known Yewstar to not at least consider something?" Slatepaw asked lightly leaning over to lick the top of his sister's head affectionately, "Now come on mouse-brain let's see if we can join in on a hunting patrol," he teased lightly as he stood up and led the way toward a group of cats that were forming the days patrols.
Emberpaw took one last look over her shoulder at Yewstar's den and then followed her brother toward the other cats as slowly as her paw steps would allow her.
